- Abundant Natural Light: The expansive glass panels allow natural sunlight to flood into your home, instantly making your interior spaces feel brighter, larger, and more welcoming.
- Maximum Ventilation: Unlike other door styles, both sides of a French door can be opened outward or inward simultaneously, allowing for excellent airflow and ventilation during the warmer summer months.
- Timeless Elegance: With their classic, symmetrical design, French doors perfectly complement both traditional period properties and modern homes.
- Seamless Outdoor Connection: French doors create a beautiful, uninterrupted transition between your kitchen or living room and your garden, patio, or conservatory.

Custom French Doors to Complement Your Home
Every Glasgow property is different, with its own needs, which is why our double glazed French doors are fully tailored to suit your interior décor, entrance dimensions, and outdoor space. We can create the right opening for your doors if you are altering an existing entrance or extension space.
Versatile Materials: Aluminium, Composite and UPVC Doors
- Aluminium French Doors: For a sleeker, more contemporary finish, aluminium frames provide incredible strength. This allows for much slimmer sightlines and larger expanses of glass. Aluminium is naturally corrosion-resistant and exceptionally stable, even in fluctuating temperatures.
- Composite French Doors: Typically featuring a solid timber core protected by a weather-resistant Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) skin, these deliver unparalleled durability. The advanced design ensures composite French doors are virtually maintenance-free and provide outstanding thermal efficiency and superior multi-point security.
- uPVC French Doors: Made from exceptionally durable, low-maintenance materials, uPVC resists moisture and never requires painting. It offers a cost-effective, highly reliable solution with superb insulation, with a dual sash opening design that lets each sash be opened on its own for flexible day-to-day access.
Endless Customisation
You can choose from a huge range of colours, from traditional white and authentic woodgrain finishes to modern shades like anthracite grey. We also offer various glazing options, frame styles, and hardware configurations to perfectly match your home’s unique character.

Window & Door Installations For Every Home
Expert Installation & Weatherproofing for Glasgow Homes
A beautifully designed French door still requires expert installation from our dedicated local double glazing team. Every door is fitted with meticulous care to ensure precise alignment, smooth operation, and long-term durability.
Built for the Glasgow Climate
The Scottish weather places genuine performance demands on external doors. Our French doors feature advanced weather sealing, including multi-chambered frames and high-quality gaskets, to prevent draughts and water ingress even during torrential rain and high winds.
Outstanding Energy Efficiency
To help manage heating costs in a cold climate, our French doors are fitted with A-rated double or triple glazing. Low-E glass helps reflect heat back into your room during the winter months, helping to reduce heat loss and heating bills while keeping your home warm and helping lower your carbon footprint.
Uncompromising Security
Because rear external doors can be vulnerable entry points, strong security is a top priority. Our French doors come equipped with advanced multi-point locking systems, securing the door at several points along the frame. Where applicable, Secured by Design accreditation is an added benchmark to help ensure security when the doors are closed and locked. We also use reinforced toughened or laminated safety glass, which is 4–5 times harder to break than standard glass.

Highly recommend MLR
Highly recommend MLR, just had all new windows and a new front door fitted by them. Amazing service from start to finish was kept informed every step of the way. Couldn’t fault the guys who came out to carry out the job, friendly, professional, kept the mess to a minimum and cleaned up everything when they were done. Also found them to be much more reasonably priced compared to other quotes I had and found the windows and door to be of better quality.

Frequently Asked Questions: French Doors Glasgow
Are French doors secure enough for Glasgow homes?
Our modern French doors ensure your property’s security is not compromised and is actually enhanced. When the doors are closed and locked, the multi-point locking system and reinforced build provide stronger protection, while toughened or laminated safety glass adds dependable everyday performance for true peace of mind.
Do French doors require a lot of maintenance?
No, French doors are remarkably easy to care for. All our uPVC, composite and aluminium French doors are low maintenance. A simple wipe-down with a damp cloth and warm, soapy water is usually all that is needed to keep the frames and glazing looking pristine, alongside an occasional light oiling of the hinges.
Will installing French doors help with energy efficiency?
Our French doors feature advanced double or triple glazing, Low-E glass, and superior weather sealing. This drastically reduces heat loss, improves your home’s thermal performance, and can help you save money on your heating costs during the worst of Glasgow’s winters. Choose from double or even triple glazed French doors to further enhance thermal efficiency.
Can I customise the design and colour of my French doors?
Yes! We offer a massive variety of customisation options, and French doors may suit some layouts better than other types of patio doors. You can tailor everything from the frame material (uPVC, aluminium or composite) to the colour, handle style, and glazing design (including frosted or decorative glass), and where relevant these options can be matched to the style of adjoining windows to perfectly complement your Glasgow property.
Do French doors open inwards or outwards?
This is entirely your choice, and the best direction depends on how the space is used and what the household needs. French doors can be configured to open outwards (which is great if you want to maximise your indoor floor space and can be useful for customers who want easier movement to the patio or balcony) or inwards (which is ideal if you have limited patio or balcony space outside). Our experts will be happy to help you decide the best configuration during your free, no-obligation home survey, and their advice makes the choice simpler and saves time.
